Southampton versus Manchester United

Thanks to Mixturesport.com for the picture above. Well, all I can say is that even though Manchester United had the most possession, Southampton played like a team possessed. They had a very good player, Adam Lallana. I bet that he will be called up for England soon. Roy Hodgson was at the match and was probably scouting and I am sure that Lallana made an impression on him. If he did not make an impression on Roy Hodgson, her certainly made an impression on me.

The final score was Manchester United – 3, Southampton – 2. It was only in the dying minutes of the game that we finally took the lead. We would have made it 4 – 2 if Robin van Persie was not so casual with the penalty he was taking. But no matter. Some lessons learnt. First of all, our defence. It just was not good enough. Southampton shut down the wing and it was only after the veteran Paul Scholes was introduced, that is when the game started changing for us.

We need to make changes…and that right soon. But congratulations to Van Persie for his hat trick. Now we know why Sir Alex Ferguson was willing to splash the cash on him. He is worth his weight in gold!
