Apple iPad Mini

Ther Apple iPad Mini was announced by Apple a couple of weeks back. This is interesting. To me, it looks like Apple is trying to fill a void between the iPhone and the iPad. Samsung already did it with their Samsung Galaxy Note. Its smaller than the iPad (obviously) but strangely, here in Singapore, sales of this new Apple product were rather lackluster. Maybe people already have iPads and do not see the need for something like this. Or, they could be all toting Galaxy Notes and have decided to give it a miss. But according to Apple:

Since iPad is all about the display, that’s where we started. We wanted it to be small, but not too small. It had to be big enough to do all the things you love to do on iPad. And it had to work with all the apps made for iPad. With that as our guide, we were able to determine the perfect screen size: 7.9 inches. Because at that size, it feels like an iPad in every way — only it’s mini. But iPad mini isn’t just a scaled-down iPad. We designed it to be a concentration, rather than a reduction, of the original. A refined unibody consolidates more parts into one. A single-cell battery — the thinnest ever made by Apple — takes up less space, but lasts just as long. The iSight camera is smaller, yet still takes 5-megapixel photos and shoots full 1080p HD video. And while the display is slimmer and lighter, it’s also incredibly vibrant.

that piece of advertising was taken from the Apple website. Ironically, after all the bad blood between Apple and Samsung, this iPad Mini is running a screen made by Samsung! A-ha! So it seems that Apple needs Samsung after all! But honestly? I will just stick with the iPad. Its bigger and just the thing to use when lying in bed. If I want anything smaller, I will personally go for the Samsung galaxy Note
