Singapore Sling

Back in the early 1900s, say about 1915, this drink was concocted by a Hainanese bartender, a Mr Ngiam, at the Raffles long bar. According to the Wikipedia entry, this drink was gin-based. many have tried to concoct it but to no avail. back in the early 1990s, when I was a steward with Singapore Airlines, they had Maugham’s pre-mixed Singapore Sling. All we had to do was to add gin and pineapple juice and it was done. A few days back, I came across these empty bottles in a club’s back room. These look like pre-mixed Singapore Sling mixtures to me. T be honest, I am quite proud of Singapore Sling. It literally put Singapore on the roadmap!
