JBL 6260 power amplifier made by UREI


In the early 90s, I was working for a company that sold professional audio. This company had a huge showroom that they used to demo lights and such, and all their speakers were powered by amplifiers like these, these solid JBL UREI 6260 power amplifiers. One thing I love about these amplifiers was the fact that they used only heatsinks, and they were bloody heavy. When we first got them, they were configured for 110 volts. What I did was to take out the transformer and get it modified, so that it would be able to handle 230 volts. I tell you, even when we used these amplifiers for rentals back then, they never blinked. I loved this amplifier. I know what they were capable of handlig and how solidly reliable they were. Its a shame amplifiers built nowadays are not built like tanks like these amplifiers were…
