The NLB book saga and Teo Kai Loon

This is a screenshot of a person named Teo Kai Loon who complained to NLB about some children’s’ books that contained something that went against some perceived, so-called no “pro-family” values. The two books were Tango Makes Three and White Swan Express. This picture was taken from the blog Open Urbanism.

That is the sad thing about these people who do not know better

In any case, if you want to know about the book Tango Makes Three, just have a look here. Nothing wrong with it as far as I can see

And then the other one they ban is White Swan Express, a book about adoption by a single parent.

Naturally, people in Singapore were outraged. At a press conference, a person employed by the National Library Board or NLB, told the press that the books would be destroyed.

What’s this? Burning of books? Wasn’t that done by the Nazis?

The amazing thing is that following this complaint, the library took action and in TWO days, affirmed that it would ban these books.

Gee my mama…if only they were THIS efficient when it comes to processing other requests. A couple of requests I have made to them a couple of years back have YET to be fulfilled.

And you may ask…who is the person that caused this ruckus? Some fella named Teo Kai Loon

This is the fella that complained. You can see his complaint in the picture above

What is Singapore coming to?

***** EDITOR’S NOTE *****

Last i heard, there was a peaceful, non-violent protest at the atrium of The National Library, as reported in the Today Newspaper. You can read it here
