Just the other day while I was at a coffee shop near my office, I came across this loaves of bread that was presumably ordered by the drinks stall. It is bread that I have never seen before and me, being a sucker for bread, thinks it looks pretty good. Need to find out a bit more about this brand, and where I can get it from
About a couple of weeks back, when I was stripping down a client’s system for relocation, one of my colleagues showed up with this new Bosch cordless screwdriver. Now I have always held Bosch products in high esteeem…my rotary hammer drill is one prime example, and this cordless screwdriver did not disappoint. Unlike the earlier version, this one came with two lithium-ion batteries and charger, and was powerful enough to do its work as a screwdriver, as well as some light drilling duties. I am weighing the option of getting something like this for my toolbox but I think that it will be wasted if I do. Still, it is something to think about and for $150, it is a good buy
Bought this new TV yesterday afternoon. Yes, I got sick of my old JVC TV that had lost its ability to play sound. So I went down to Courts Singapore and nought this Panasonic TH-32C400S 32″ LCD TV. That is the picture I took at Courts and that is the price I paid for it, which is $349. Not a bad 32″ TV, with the same mounting points at the back, so I could re-use my wallmount bracket. I tried it and for the money, it is a very good buy. It works just fine and I can use my Android box again to see my movies. Oh…and my old TV? Sold it away for $20, on the same day! Yep…now I can watch my TV again!
It was all over the news yesterday. Jose Mourinho was appointed the new manager of Manchester United. It came as no surprise really. Jose has been doing everything except sending smoke signals that he wanted to become the manager of Manchester United someday. He replaces Louis Van Gaal, who was sacked a few days earlier. According to the official announcement on the Manchester United website:
José Mourinho will take over as manager of Manchester United from the 2016/17 season, signing a three-year contract with an option to stay at the club until at least 2020.
José, 53, has managed at the top level of European football for over a decade and in that time has won league titles and cups in four countries (Portugal, England, Italy and Spain), as well as winning the UEFA Champions League twice – in 2004 with FC Porto and in 2010 with Inter Milan.
Announcing the appointment, Ed Woodward said: “José is quite simply the best manager in the game today. He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Manchester United. His track record of success is ideal to take the club forward.”
José Mourinho said: “To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.
“I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years.”
Welcome to Manchester United Jose. You have a VERY big responsibility. Do not let the club down.
Just the other day, while clearing a client’s office, I came across this old, presumably forgotten USB phone charger, complete with cable, at the bottom of a rostrum that was destined for the tip. We were given orders to dispose of the phone charger so I took it home and tested it to see if it was still working. This USB charger not only worked fine but it charges pretty quickly too. I am using it as a spare and so far, it performs very well as one. Another edition to my junk box! They certainly do not build them ike they used to anymore
Just yesterday, I had the “pleasure” of repairing or rather, troubleshooting the reason why a TV could not be switched off. I removed the RS232 connectors that were connected to the TVs via a Crestron scaler and I remember checking the pins to make sure that all was OK. For those who have issues solving pin issues, especially with regards to RS232 connectors to Sharp TVs, this is the pin config.
There was talk a few months before that Louis Van Gaal would get the sack as Manchester United manager but it came as a surprise to me yesterday when the news came official on the Manchester United website that he was sacked…yes…one day after he won the FA Cup.
Do not get me wrong. I am a staunch Manchester United fan. I am upset at the level of play our club has been at these couple of years. But for crying out loud man…can’t we give the man some time? It sure ain’t easy filling the shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson. But then again…the board has seen it fit to terminate Van Gaal’s services. The board knows best so that is what we have to live with.
Thanks Louis. You got us the FA Cup. I will not forget that. Wish you all the best in the future.
