West Bromwich Albion – 0 Manchester United – 2
The match started at 0130hrs this morning. When I saw the line-up with a 4-3-3 formation, I had a feeling that this was going to work very well for us…and how right I was! Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed United into a fifth-minute lead, assisted by Jesse Lingard. What a cross! We could have made it 2 – 0 if WBA keeper Ben Foster did not save Rooney’s attempt which hit the bar after the punch. But I need not have worried. In the second half, Ibrahimovic struck again. This time, fed by Rooney on the left of the area, he showed deft footwork to skip between two defenders before getting slightly lucky with a drilled effort that deflected off Craig Dawson. An own goal? Probably.
But what was amazing to watch during the match was United’s passing. Lots of one-touches and the two centre-backs, Rojo and Jones, kept their in-form striker Raddon at bay. That really frustrated him because at one point he slapped Rojo! Jones came in between them, shoving Raddon away. As I said, Raddon was probably just very frustrated. Why couldn’t he score against Manchester United, like they did 9 months ago?
A good match. Have we turned the corner? Most likely. It is starting to look like the United of old again, with touches of Mourinho. Let us see how it comes up. Glory Glory!!
