Aten CE100 USB KVM Cat5 extender


I installed a couple of pairs of these Aten CE100s at a customer’s place yesterday. Their old extenders were pretty outdated and not working anymore. It was pretty easy to install. There is a local and remote extender. The remote one, which comes from the PC, is powered by the USB connected to the PC. The local one, which is connected to the monitor, keyboard and mouse, is powered by a five volt power supply. This is what the connections look like:

One thing I like about this is that it can extend up to 320 feet with no issues. Of course it is always better if you use Cat6 shielded twisted pair cable for best results. And you can see from this that there is a USB specially for the keyboard and mouse, based on the illustrations. I like these. If they were not so expensive, I would have gotten a pair for myself
