Australian jobs for Australians says Malcolm Turnbull
I was listening to BBC World Service last night and this report came up. So when I looked for it this morning, I read it in full here on Reuters. I feel that this is a great step from Mr Turnbull and I feel that this is something our very own Government should do i.e. save jobs for Singaporeans first. Remember I was telling you, dear reader, in a past post about that useless jobsite that could not get me or many others a job despite applying for so many? In any case, this is what he said:
“We are an immigration nation, but the fact remains- Australian workers must have priority for Australian jobs. We’ll no longer allow 457 visas to be passports to jobs that could and should go to Australians.”
According to the Reuters report, The 457 visa was introduced in the 1990s to expedite the entry of business professionals and highly skilled migrants but over time it was opened up to include a broad suite of workers.
Sounds familiar eh? Way to go Mr Turnbull. And to our leaders in the government reading this, shouldn’t you be doing this as well?
