Siren on a building in Haji Lane

15/01/2018 Leave a comment

I was walking around Haji Lane yesterday afternoon and I happened to glance up and saw this revolving light and what looks like a siren. I wonder what it is for. Is it some kind of alarm or something? I am not too sure. Maybe someone can tell me. Interesting this is!

Bike wheel chandelier at Haji Lane

Well, I am a biking enthusiast after all and while the wife and I were walking down Haji Lane, this “chandelier” of sorts caught my eye. Thinking of this, it ain’t too difficult to make. Something to think about perhaps when I redo the lights at my house?

Mackie Thumps powering a block party in Haji Lane

A few days back, I was with some friends at a block party in Haji Lane. Haji Lane is a quaint little place in Singapore with all kinds of shops and bars and this place was one of them. I had written an article about the Mackie Thumps before and I did not think that they were great speakers to get but for the money you pay for them, I suppose you get what you pay for, But these Thumps, in that Haji Lane area, were LOUD. But then again, it was an all-vinyl party so it was not the clearest of audio but still, it was loud and clear. I suppose for small block parties ike these, these will have to suffice…and suffice they did!

Arches at Muscat Street Singapore

15/04/2014 Leave a comment

There are some lovely arches, with Muslim architecture, erected in Muscat Street. You can also see, in this picture, some tablets erected next to it, telling about the history of Singapore in this part of the island. My wife and I love walking in this area when we can. The architecture is lovely and there is a very bohemian feel to it. If you all want to visit it, this place is near Arab Street and is adjacent to Haji Lane

Goood Pet collars

15/03/2014 Leave a comment

My wife bought these collars for our two cats. These collars are pretty good because they come with an instant release mechanism should the pet be caught on something. They are also of excellent quality. But the best thing about them? If you buy these, Goood Pet Collars will donate food to homeless cats. Now that is something worth buying these collars for. Buy them. They can be gotten at Dulcetfig at Haji Lane. Do a good deed today!

Fixies @ Haji Lane

31/12/2012 Leave a comment

I was in this shop at Haji Lane in Singapore and I saw some of these fixies on sale. Nice looking bikes but the components were not exactly the best. The pink bike in this picture did not have cranks on them so I think that some customer comes into the shop, sees the crank and persuades the shop owner to sell it to him. Now there is nothing wrong with that but to sell a bike without its original stock crank will turn some buyers off. In any case, this is not a bike shop per se, but merely a shop that caters to the fixie market, in a bohemian place like Haji Lane. There are two “bike-shops” there…this is one of them.

Blu Jaz and the controversial graffiti

28/12/2012 Leave a comment

There was a news report that this shop-house along Haji Lane in Singapore came under fire for having graffiti on it. It is owned by Blu Jaz, a rather popular nightspot in that area. The thing is, I think that this has been very tastefully done and I cannot see in any way how this impacts the external facade of the building. This building is located in a place where the arts are thriving and the people that complained about the graffiti would do well to realise how it has beautified the area. Honestly…some people are just morons
