Taiwan data SIM card from Chunghwa telecom

The very first thing we did when we landed in Taipei Airport was to get ourselves a local SIM card. I have always said that that is the cheapest option to go for when it comes to connectivity in any country in South-East Asia, well, except Japan that is. This SIM card we got was provided by Chunghwa Telecom. There are a few varieties to choose from. There are 3-day passes, 5-day passes and even 10-day passes. My wife and I each got ourselves the 5-day pass for NT300, which translates to Singapore $15. Both of us have nano SIM cards on our phones and check this out, this is for unlimited data. This is great value and much better than buying the unworthy 1Gb a day roaming from StarHub or even the $5 a day mobile wifi at Changi airport. We have tried it out and we find it to be fantastic. Highly recommended for all who want to travel to Taiwan!

StarHub unlimited data plan (only during weekends)

Starhub has done it again…selling people stuff that they really do not need. Take this “free data during weekend” shit that they are shovelling down peoples throats. Isn’t the weekend when people are at home…at least most of them? Trying to sound magnanimous, aren’t we Starhub? Why can’t you give this so-called “unlimited” plan during the weekdays, when it is most required? And another thing…did you all know that you have to sign a new contract with StarHub to get this magnanimous offer of theirs? Plus, it is 13% more expensive!

Think twice people. Do not fall for this. If you really want to get a plan that is great, go for Circles Life. Best value for money plan.
