I have always advocated using patch-bays for your equipment, whether you are an audio rental guy or if you are doing a rack for a client. Reason being is because you do not have to reach behind the racks and pull wires. Plus, it makes it a whole lot neater and it is faster to patch things in instead of tracing cables. This rack above was made for a client. You can see various types of XLR connectors there and all of them serve their purpose. Yep. Keep it neat and tidy all the time.
Back in the day, patch cables like these were easy to find in most audio shops. Today, most of these audio shops make custom-made cables that are pretty expensive. I found these Peavey cables on sale on Amazon.com for the great price of US$15 for a bundle, versus one local shop here that is selling some pre-made ones at $15 each! I need a few of these so I will be ordering them from Amazon and have them shipped over. It’s a shame that there are no shops that have them…I have looked. I could have used these at an event I was doing some time back. Oh well…let’s break out the credit card and do some shopping!
