Yamaha MG06 mixer
In February, I bought yself a Yamaha MG82cx mixer for use and admittedly, that mixer is now gathering dust, kept in a flightcase in my home. But no matter what, I love that mixer and the flexibility of it. Its mind-boggling how they managed to squeeze so much into a mixer that small. Apparently now…Yamaha have realised that there may be applications where an even smaller mixer is needed. Enter the MG06.
I have seen this mixer at Yamaha’s website before. Its a great little mixer and unlike the MG82cx, it comes with full-sized XLR outputs. The MG82cx had 1/4″ TRS outputs, making me do wonders with my soldering skills, which have turned bad due to my bad eyesight. That is certainly a plus in their favour. This mixer gets its name from the six outputs it has…namely two mono inputs and two stereo inputs, giving it a total of 6 inputs. These are the features, according to Yamaha’s website:
- 6-Channel Mixing Console
- Max. 2 Mic / 6 Line Inputs (2 mono + 2 stereo)
- 1 Stereo Bus
- “D-PRE” mic preamps with an inverted Darlington circuit
- XLR balanced outputs
- PAD switch on mono inputs
- +48V phantom power
- Metal chassis
- Dimensions(W×H×D): 149 mm x 62 mm x 202 mm (5.9″x 2.4″x 7.9″)
- Net Weight: 0.9 kg (1.98 lbs.)
Not too bad given its small size. And it even has phantom power! Also, it looks like it is powered by a 12 volt power supply so it means that the familiar “brick” will make its appearance. But all in all, a small compact mixer with Yamaha durability. I ain’t mad at that!
