I bought this 2-gang Permaplug socket recently. These are made of rubber and they work a treat. They are stronger than the equivalent 13A sockets and they can take some abuse. I am going to give this a try so this is a trial of sorts. I bought it for about $12 and so far, I think it is a good buy. Looks like I will be buying a few more of these for DJ shows.

Dinner at Long John Silvers

I was working late in my office the other day so i decided to have Long John Silver’s for dinner. I have not eaten Long John Silver fast food for some time so I was not sure which meal to pick. I settled for a meal of battered chicken and chips plus a Coke Zero for $5. It did not taste too bad and the chicken was chicken breast. They have some good deals there and I think it is worth another visit

French toast for breakfast

Sometimes when you wake up in the morning, all you want is to have a good, wholesome breakfast. I am partial to scrambled eggs in the morning actually. But one cannot eat scrambled eggs all the time. I did post a video on how to make scrambled eggs and I must say that the video was a great success because when I tried it, it came out fine.

Another recipe that I have to try out (I never have to be honest) is French toast.  My mother-in-law used to make it for me actually. I came upon this recipe I found on YouTube and it looks pretty good. I must give it a try this weekend. I am pretty sure that it will be a success!

Polar making butter cake now?

14/03/2018 Leave a comment

Looks like a local Singapore confectionery named Polar Puffs and Cakes has started to make butter cakes. Polar is a Singapore institution that has been in business for years, They make very nice cakes, curry puffs, sausage rolls and the like. I took this picture at a petrol station a couple of days back. Polar sells some of its ware in petrol stations and when I saw this, it made me wonder of it was any good or not. My father-in-law makes a mean butter cake but can these fellas stand up to it? Maybe I should buy one and give it a try.

Seat-less OFO bicycles

I am seeing this all over the place…almost everywhere I look. I see a lot of OFO bikes without seats. This picture was taken yesterday, at a bicycle parking lot under a block of flats. What gives OFO? Did you tighten the seat clamps down? Or did the bolts clamping the seat rails break off? It certainly looks like it. If you guys want your bikes to be utilised well, I suggest you get these bikes back and tighten the seats on them!

SMRT’s signalling system was supposed to be upgraded in 2002

I read with concern this article in The Independent today. In this article, transportation expert Bruno Wildermuth revealed in a recent interview with The Straits Times that the MRT signalling system was due to be replaced after 15 years. So why was it only being upgraded now? And to add insult to injury, Mr Bruno said that “someone must have been sleeping on the job”. Now you see the number of breakdowns we have been having on the SMRT. Almost every day, there are breakdowns and many people have been inconvenienced because of it. Now here we have an expert telling us the truth about signalling system and we can start to wonder why it was not upgraded long before. And this is what we know. Imagine what we don’t know! Someone ought to be taken to task for this because this is just shameful.
