Peavey PVi Portable

31/03/2015 Leave a comment

I did not know that Peavey had a portable PA series. As a matter of fact, I only just found out. I have yet to try this out and have yet to see this being used in Singapore…in the sea of Yamahas and Mackies and the occasional Fender Passport. The PVi features 300 watts of power. This eight channel system includes four XLR or 1/4″ microphone inputs and two stereo inputs featuring 1/8″, RCA or 1/4″ inputs. Each channel includes three bands of EQ along with a variety of digital effects with LED display. This feature beats my Yamaha Stagepas hands down. In addition the PVi portable is capable of playing back MP3 audio tracks via USB. This is like the Fender Passport. Recording audio out can be done via the onboard analog record RCA outputs. It also has a seven-band EQ. Speakers and cables are included in this portable PA system, featuring rugged metal latches. These are the features of this unit:

  • 300 watts
  • 2x stereo channels
  • Media inputs
  • Record outputs
  • Full 3-band EQ per channel
  • Built in digital effects and delay
  • Seven-band master Graphic EQ
  • USB input for MP3 playback
  • EFX send and return
  • Includes speakers and speaker cable
  • 8 channel powered mixer
  • Assignable stereo power section
  • Analog and digital record outputs
  • Weight Unpacked: 46.30 lb(21 kg)
  • Weight Packed: 55.12 lb(25 kg)
  • Width Packed: 23″(58.42 cm)
  • Height Packed: 34″(86.36 cm)
  • Depth Packed: 17.25″(43.815 cm)

But I do not think you can get this in Singapore…or I could be wrong. But it looks mighty interesting

I woke up this morning and heard the sad news that the first Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Lee Kuan Yew had passed away. He passed away at 0318 hrs this morning. I may have disagreed with some of his policies but he was my prime minister and he made Singapore the way it is. Rest in peace Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Thank you for all you have done for Singapore

Liverpool – 1, Manchester United – 2

22/03/2015 Leave a comment

In a few hours from now, it is going to be Liverpool vs Manchester United. It is going to be one helluva match because the last time we took Liverpool on at Old Trafford, they lost 3 – 0. They will be coming back with a vengeance and as Rio Ferdinand put it once, it’s not easy to win at Anfield. But we will try. We will keep the red flag flying high. Glory Glory Manchester United!

———- EDITOR’S NOTE ———-

What a game it was, with two lovely goals from Juan Mata. It was one up in the first half and then the second goal from Juan Mata was sublime, with an acrobatic kick that just made my wife and I go crazy! Unfortunately for us, Sturridge pulled one back. But the biggest point of the match? When Gerrard, who came on as a substitute in the second half, was sent off 45 seconds into the second half, for a very rash stomp on Ander Herrera. So Liverpool were playing with ten men but then, the motivation to succeed comes and you fight like crazy, hence the Sturridge goal. We could have made it 3 – 1 if Rooney had scored with a penalty that was expertly saved by Mignolet. But still, 3 points, all thanks to this guy below:

Hitachi DB3DL2 electric screwdriver

This is the Hitachi power tool that a friend of mine uses to fix computers and machines. I had a hard time finding it here in Singapore but then again, maybe I was not looking in all the right places or rather, was not looking in all the right hardware shops. The beauty of this drill is that it can be angled, like in the picture and also the torque is quite good. It does not over-tighten screws because the torque can be controlled. One thing I like about it very much is that it is very slim and not fat like some of the other electric screwdrivers that I have seen. The 3.6 vold Lithium-Ion battery lasts quite some time too! I will be buying this on the spot of I do come across this

My flightcase needs new casters

The casters on my flightcase are severely worn down. Looks like I may have to make a trip to the nearby hardware store to get some new casters for this flightcase of mine. There are so many casters available at various prices and with various degrees of quality. I suppose spend a bit more and get some good quality ones would be the best thing to do.

The old fuses in my house

04/03/2015 Leave a comment

The apartment I am currently living in is old. It was built in the early 70s. So it is of no coincidence that there a lot of old things here. Take these fuse-boxes for instance. They are ancient but they work with no issues. I have been thinking of changing them to electronic ones but if these work well, I do not see a reason to change them. They have been pretty good all these years so…

The AEKU M5 mobile phone

Just the other day, while taking the elevator, I saw this guy holding this phone and checking his text messages on it. I saw that it is a very slim mobile phone, almost as thin and the same size as a credit card. Not much is known about it but from what I can see, it’s a very basic mobile phone with a built-in battery. And check this out…it only costs about US$23. Not bad for such a tiny phone!
