New KDK ceiling fan in my Mum’s room

I installed a new ceiling fan in my Mum’s room, replacing the old National fan that had gotten rusty and wobbly. The old National fan was installed 30 years ago and it badly needed a replacement. This new KDK ceiling fan is lighter, has more speeds than the National fan of old, and has a smaller diameter. It took me about an hour to install it. Also, this fan has got more safety features than the fan of old. One of the safety features is a steel cable that threads its way through the post and gets fastened to the ceiling via a concrete anchor bolt. So for about $90 and some time to install it, my Mum has a new fan and she is happy with it. KDK makes some of the best ceiling fans around.

I have two of these KDK ceiling fans installed in my apartment. During Chinese New Year last week, I had to clean them and I normally do so with my trusty Philips vacuum cleaner with the attached nozzle. However, the fan in the hall had blades that were blackened with dust. The vacuum could only remove the dust but not the black stains left by the dust. I had to get my ladder out and remove the blades, use some concentrated Dettol house washing liquid with a brush and clean them. After that I installed them back and they look as good as new

I use the fans a lot because the price of electricity has sky-rocketed recently. It sure beats using the air conditioning system in my house because it uses less electricity. These fans are not expensive and are easy to install. Why don’t you readers install them in your houses?
