The Logitech GROUP video conferencing system

07/03/2021 Leave a comment

I have installed quite a few of these Logitech Group systems in many of my client’s meeting rooms. But some are asking…what is the Logitech Group? Well, in a nutshell, it is a video conferencing solution for rooms that seat 14–20 people, delivers HD video and audio, allowing any meeting place to be a video conferencing space. This set has advanced features like acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction technology, and intuitive controls. It connects to your laptop or PC via USB. This plug-and-play connectivity (and it really is) makes it very easy to use. My clients used the Logitech GROUP with Zoom and Teams and it works very well. It is not that expensive either. It costs about $1,500 online. Now that is making me feel tempted…

Logitech Group

These past few days, I have been setting up Logitech Group video-conferencing equipment for a client. They have a few offices all over the island and I am installing them. This Logitech Group series is a joy to install and configure. I have to say that the install went very well and worked great right out of the box. I used it with Zoom and also with Skype with no issues. The Group is detected by my laptop running Windows 10 with no issues. The video above shows what the Logitech Group is all about. Remember when I said that installs should always be simple? Well, this is as simple as it can get. Would I buy it? I surely would if I really required it!

Logitech Quickcam E3500

02/06/2020 Leave a comment

I bought this Logitech Quickcam E3500 about 12 years back. I needed it for recording my live DJ mixing into YouTube back then. While it was good enough back then, it really pales in comparison to the images put out by cameras of today. This device had a maximum digital resolution of 960 x 720. It could capture still images of 1280 x 960. And check this out – it is still working great in Windows 10! The built-in microphone works perfectly and I have been able to use it during this circuit breaker period of Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings. I do not know if I should upgrade it if it is still performing well. I have heard that USB webcams are selling out all over Singapore as people bought them for Zoom meetings while being stuck at home. As they say, if it is not broken, do not fix it. I think that there is a lot of life left in this. Thanks Logitech!

Using VLC as a video capture device

12/05/2020 Leave a comment

I have yet to use, or even see,a full-feature product like VLC Media Player. I have used it to test video streams, I have used it to play videos, and the list goes on. These past few days, I have been trying to see if I can use it as a video-capture device. I have been using an ancient Logitech E3500 USB camera that does not have the best resolution. I bought it about 12 years back. It still works great though. Anyway, back to the program. I have been fooling around with VLC but this program is so powerful, I am only just scraping the surface of all it can do. I have been taking video captures but the file sizes are HUGE. But with a little help from the people at VLChelp.com I have managed to get my recordings to be smaller in size. as I said, I am still experimenting with VLC to see the other options I can use and so far, it looks good.

Fake tweeter on Logitech Z333 speakers

03/05/2018 3 comments

Speakers with fake tweeters are not new. I remember my Sony mini compo that my dad gave me in 1985 was one such item with a fake tweeter. Then there was one time when I came across these BMB speakers installed in a restaurant with a fake tweeter as well. But this one really takes the cake. Check out these Logitech Z333 speakers. I would have expected something better from a Swiss brand. Check out the tweeter. It looks like these speakers were built to deceive the people that bought them. And to think that I was actually praising Logitech to the skies when I saw a pub installed with their speakers!

Logitech K120 keyboard

I bought this Logitech keyboard for my wife for the great price of $10. before that, she was using an old Compaq keyboard, a spare that I had in the cupboard for the longest time. In any case, I just tried this keyboard and it feels great. Admittedly, it does not have the sturdiness of the old Compaq keyboard but for ten dollars, who am I to complain. I just hope the wife likes it!

Logitech Wireless Mini Mouse M187

13/06/2013 Leave a comment

I am looking for a wireless mouse. I managed to narrow down my search to this Logitech M187 wireless mouse. It looks pretty good and it only costs about $20. It uses a AA-sized battery and the receiver is very small. If it works well, I will probably be getting another one. I have put off getting a wireless mouse for a while because they are a bit on the pricey side but this looks like one that I can take for gigs (to control my laptop) and also to use with my mini Android computer. I am using a wired mouse now but I find it a trifle inconvenient. So looks like this Logitech mouse is on my list.

Irritating Apple mouse

09/06/2013 Leave a comment

I have this mouse and I must admit that it is one of the most irritating things to use. I do not know why Apple designs their mice this way. For crying out loud Apple, I know you want to be exclusive but can you design a mouse that has a better track wheel? This one is getting clogged up and I cannot even take it out to clean the damn thing. That is what I hate a bout Apple. They make their goods so repair-unfriendly. This mouse is one of them. I swear that if I cannot get it fixed by next week, this will end up in the trash-pile and I will get a new and working Logitech mouse. Now their mice, I know are reliable!

Logitech speakers

22/05/2012 1 comment

I was walking by a pub the other day and I was very surprised to see these speakers powering the whole pub! Pretty impressive for what I can see are clearly home theatre speakers! But then again, for the pub that small, these could handle the goods. I have gained a new respect for these speakers. They were loud and by golly, could they rock!
