Liverpool vs Manchester united

14/10/2017 Leave a comment

We travel to Anfield today to take on Liverpool. There have been some injuries to our team. Fellaini for us is out after picking up injuries during international duties. Apparently, Liverpool face the absence of Mane as well. It is not easy for us to play at Anfield. It is going to be contentious but let us see how it turns out. GGMU!

Manchester United – 4 Everton – 0

In a couple of hours time, Manchester United will be facing Everton. It will be an emotional game (I think) for two players on each of the opposing teams. First of all, for Wayne Rooney, it will be a return to his old stomping ground, Old Trafford. On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku will be facing his old club, Everton. Everton got quite a shock mid last week when they lost to an Italian club in the Europa League so Ronald Koeman will be desperate to make up for that loss. Manchester United, on the other hand, will be trying to make up the goal difference that Manchester City has over them, after the six goal drubbing of Watford yesterday. So, call it what you will, but this is going to be one intense match!

********** EDITOR’S NOTE after the match **********

What a game it was! Antonio Valencia started the scoring with a thunderous volley in the opening minutes of the game. This was followed by an almost goal in the 64th minute when Juan Mata took a free kick which hit the post! Damn. We could have been two up by then but it was not mean to be. But that changed in the 82nd minute when Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the second goal! Lovely interception by Fellaini that helped it! But that was not all. In the 89th minute, Lukaku took a free kick that bounced off the wall, got bandied around and made it’s way back to Lukaku who scored! 3 – 0! I was going crazy! But that is not all. Martial comes on and then there was a penalty for united when one of our ex-players Morgan Schneiderlin was caught with a handball. A bit unfair if you ask me because the referee pointed to the spot. Martial converted it and it was a final 4 – 0 score!

It was a bit sad when the camera panned towards Rooney a few times. he looked a bit upset to see his team being decimated at his old stomping ground. But that is football. 4 – 0 is the score. Glory glory!

Manchester United – 2 vs Leicester City – 0

It was a home game at Old Trafford. It has been two pretty solid match-weeks for Manchester United with victories over West Ham United and Swansea City. And we tried and succeeded with that unbeaten streak with Leicester City. Right from the start of the first half, it was in favour of Manchester United with the home-side dominating possession and hitting the final third time and again. We had a goal disallowed very early by Mata. Offside, claimed the linesman. Paul Pogba shot a few  wide ones but not meant to be…some were close though. Saves from Kasper Schmeichel and Leicester’s defensive compactness limited us until er struck very late in the second half through a corner which Marcus Rashford converted. Lingard provided the assist for Fellaini later on and United sealed a comfortable win and put three points in the bag. Goal difference is 10 and 9 points after three games. Top of the table! Glory Glory Manchester United!

Swansea – 0 vs Manchester United – 4

A very, very good game. A bit nervy at first with Swansea testing us. We could not make much against Swansea as they had five defenders, one of them being the fantastic Argentinian Fernandez. But we piled pressure on them like crazy and it was only on the cusp of half-time that Eric Bailly scored! What a way to end the first half with Manchester United in the lead!

When the second-half started, we piled more pressure on. Then a bit later in the second-half, Jose took off Mata and Rashford and introduced Fellaini and Martial. And that is when the magic happened. In the 80th minute, Lukaku scored! Then one minute later, Martial scored! Not to be outdone, one minute later, Pogba scored! Three goals in the space of four minutes! What a score!

And that is how it ended. Swansea – 0 and Manchester United – 4. We are top of the table but this is only the second week of the 2017 / 2018 season. We cannot get too over-confident. Let us keep a clean sheet. Oh yeah…I gotta say this…Glory Glory Manchester United! Keep the red flag flying high!

What a match it was. Wonder-boy Marcus Rashford scored a brace, one in the second minute too! After that, Fellaini scored. The match ended at half-time with LA Galaxy – 0, Manchester United – 3.

After the second half, the squad was completely changed. Then in the 67th minute, Mkhitaryan scored and a few minutes later, Martial scored! Score was 0 – 5! But LA Galaxy pulled two back and the final score was LA Galaxy – 2, Manchester United – 5! Ripping match!

Wayne Rooney has returned to Everton

It was a sad day for Manchester United when their captain returned to Everton, the club he supported as a boy, after 13 years at Manchester United. Ronald Koeman now has a new No. 10. Thanks to The Telegraph for the picture.

The final was held in Stockholm and saw two sublime goals. One in the 16th minute by Pogba and one shortly after half-time by Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Two splendid goals in this Europa League final make it Champions League soccer next year. And not only that. In winning 2-0 we could set a record that rivals Liverpool will never be able to beat. Because with United’s Europa League success, we have become just the fifth team in European football history to win all three of the continent’s major trophies – the European Cup/Champions League, the UEFA Cup/Europa League and the Cup Winners’ Cup.

We did it! Glory Glory Manchester United

Manchester United – 2 Chelsea – 0

Manchester-United-vs-Chelsea

I can honestly that this was one of the best games United had against Chelsea. It was an excellent, all-round performance from Manchester United which gave us a comfortable win over the Chelsea. And, I might add,  we move back into fifth, while Chelsea stay four points ahead of Spurs at the top of the table. All I can say is, Senhor Mourinho had devised a tactical masterclass. First goal was attributed to Marcus Rashford. Marcus Rashford gave David Luiz and Gary Cahill the run of their lives, using his speed to their disadvantage. But if you thought Rashford was good, look at Ander Herrera. He was assigned an old-fashioned man-marking role on Eden Hazard. Several times, when he was not doing that, Jose kept calling out to him, reminding him of his duty to shadow Hazard. And shadow he did. Herrera stuck to Hazard  but he also weighed in with the second goal as well as setting up the first for Rashford. Truly deserving of Man Of The Match for me. Glory Glory Manchester United!!

Saw the match last night and was really pleased with the outcome. Manchester United kept their top-four hopes alive as they strolled to a comfortable 3-0 victory at Sunderland, who had Seb Larsson controversially sent off. When I say controversially, I really mean it. He did not deserve that straight red for the studs-up on Pogba and Herrera but the referee seemed to think differently. Zlatan put United 1-0 up on 30 minutes. Half-time had a result of 0 – 1. Just 45 seconds after the restart, United were 2-0 up through Henrikh Mkhitaryan. His goal was a really nice one with a lot of fancy footwork. and I was elated. It did not look as if the Sunderland players had touched the ball at all when the second-half started! Substitute Marcus Rashford added a third goal after Ibrahimovic’s assist. And that is where it was last night. Sunderland – 0, Manchester United – 3

Manchester United 2014 / 2015 jersey

I received a gift from one of my clients last week and I really cannot thank them enough. I love this 2014 / 2015 Manchester United jersey and I wore it a couple of days back. Very comfortable it was and that material is really, really nice. Manchester United are now sponsored by Adidas and I love the Adidas jerseys but Nike makes some nice ones as well, like this one. Still, Nike or Adidas, it is the jersey of the club that I love so I will wear this with pride. Glory Glory Manchester United!!
