Microsoft bought Skype for 8.5 billion in cash

10/05/2011 Leave a comment

Well, it is official now. Microsoft has bought Skype for 8.5 billion dollars in cash. Now that is a lot of money to be paid for such a product. Some people said that Microsoft overpaid. But no matter who says what, Microsoft now owns Skype. Oh, the horror of it all. Does that mean we will have to merge all our usernames and login via Microsoft Live? Will Skype be a web-based app that will run in Hotmail? The future is not so clear but I can see that there will be some changes coming, and that right soon

Manchester United – 2, Chelsea – 1

That was the score last night and I am very glad. How can I not be glad when the team that I have been following and supporting for so many years is on the brink of landing their 19th Premier League title? And that goal from Hernandez, less than one minute into the game…magic! Gary Neville and the rest were on Twitter, praising him to the skies as he scored his 20th goal for the season. And there to help him was Park Ji Sung. people wonder what he fuels on because it seems like he has limitless energy. (Park later said he ate pasta before the match!) And that second goal from Nemanja Vidic seemed to seal it all, in spite of Frank Lampard’s goal in the second half. What a match and what a team. Even Sir Alex Ferguson gave two bows to the Stretford End of the field! Way to go guys! Glory Glory Manchester United!

How some people change when moving up the corporate ladder

07/05/2011 Leave a comment

There was a time when we were friends, colleagues, fighting in the trenches at work. Funny thing is, once people move up the corporate ladder, they change. What seemed normal and functional back then does not apply now. That is exactly what happened today and I still feel pissed about it…no…sad would be a better word to use. Something has got to give and I think my timing starts now.

Schalke – 1, Manchester United – 4

I always knew that could do it. What was bizzarre was the fact that Alex Ferguson rested the core team that saw action against Arsenal. Two goals from Anderson, one from Darron Gibson and one from Anthony Valencia saw to it that we will be meeting Barcelona in the finals of the Champions League. The thing that causes apprehension in me is the fact that we are going up against a team like Barcelona. Can we make it against them? Memories of 2009 are still fresh. Champions League aside, we have an important game against Chelsea on the weekend. It is make or break time. We gotta do it. But till then, all I can say is Glory Glory Manchester United!

David Saul Marshall

“It’s an exciting country, Singapore. It’s a lovely country. And you have to make your own space for your own spiritual and intellectual needs and have the courage. Have the courage to serve your fellow men with integrity. I’ll put it in one nutshell: have the courage to live, don’t be afraid!”

Those were his words, taken from an interview that he gave in 1994, which can be found here. He is or rather was, David Marshall, first Chief Minister of Singapore and founder of The Workers Party. A brilliant lawyer who fought for the rights of the poor. He has my respect. I just wish there were more men like him around. People like this, you just have to respect.

Osama Bin Laden officially dead?

So they finally got him. It was all over the news yesterday, all over the world. Seems that they stormed the house where he was living in (which was in Pakistan, by the way) and put a couple of bullets to his head. After that it seems that they took the body and gave it a burial at sea, to prevent his grave from becoming a shrine or something. Well, if one thinks that just by getting rid of him, they have put a stop to all the jihad issues, think again. There will be someone coming in to take his place…you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

Samsung C3212 DUO-SIM mobile phone

02/05/2011 5 comments

Well, I have been using this phone for more than a year now and I am quite happy to report that it is a great phone. The only issue that I have with it is that it will reboot by itself sometimes but so far, not while I was making a call. I think a firmware upgrade will take care of that but I am a bit wary of firmware upgrades after one of them totally hosed my Nokia 6233. This baby allows you to do a re-direct on one SIM card while the other is normal. Plus, two cards standby at the same time so you can receive a call with no issues. Will I get Samsung mobile phones again? You bet!
