Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak to receive 12 year jail sentence

Malaysia is our neighbour and so when events happen there, we are sure to know about it. Yesterday, it was reported that the former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will serve a 12-year jail sentence and pay a RM210 million fine for the SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction. The SRC case was a straightforward one involving abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

I cannot comment much as the case is not a Singaporean one and I do not want to interfere in the local politics of Malaysia. I hope that Mr Najib will use the time during his sentence and think about the misdeeds he was accused of.

Jaromel Gee sentenced to three years’ jail and 12 strokes of the cane

Remember this dippy fella above? He is or rather was a hard-core PAP supporter. I remember that he made some rather disparaging remarks against Dr Chee below in social media:

Apparently, it seems like this fella is like the very words he used on Dr Chee i.e. “filled with trash” when he pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in a conspiracy with two others to commit robbery in 2018. According to the Straits Times article:

Jaromel Gee Ming Li, 29, was sentenced to three years’ jail and 12 strokes of the cane on Thursday (Sept 9).

He pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in a conspiracy with Mohd Abdul Rahman Mohamad and Syed Mokhtar Syed Yusope, both 39, to commit robbery in 2018.

Abdul Rahman’s case is still pending, while Mokhtar pleaded guilty to a robbery charge on Wednesday.

Court documents stated that Gee was involved in bitcoin brokerage and would arrange transactions between parties who wished to buy and sell bitcoins.

He also engaged Abdul Rahman to help him with the transactions, which typically involved prospective buyers bringing large sums of cash in exchange for the bitcoins.

In April 2018, the pair planned to rob potential buyers without transferring or selling any bitcoins to them.

In any case, this fella was caught and jailed. He was also caned.

Remember guys and gals…karma can be a bitch.

Man gets jail for abetting girlfriend to misappropriate 684 bottles of cough mixture

I happened to see this in the news some time back but I was just reminded of it. According to this article in The Straits Times:

SINGAPORE – As his girlfriend needed money, a man suggested that she steal and sell cough mixture from the clinic she was working at.

Ms Ho Min Pei, a student who was then working as a part-time receptionist at T P Sim Family Clinic and Surgery in Bishan Street 11, agreed.

The arrangement was for her to hand the misappropriated bottles of cough mixture to Yap Kailshen, 27, who would then look for buyers.

On Thursday (Oct 12), Yap was given four months’ jail for instigating Ms Ho to commit criminal breach of trust of 684 bottles of Dhasedyl cough mixture worth $6,840 from the clinic between July 2015 and January 2016.

He was sentenced to three weeks’ jail, to run concurrently, for having 24 bottles of a brown liquid containing codeine for sale without a licence on Jan 25, 2016.

The pair had agreed that Ms Ho would receive $25 from each sale and Yap would keep the rest of the sales proceeds.

The “market value” of illicit cough mixture on the black market was $35 to $40, according to Yap, but he has failed to properly account for how much he sold each bottle for, the court heard.

Ms Ho’s services were terminated in January 2016 as a result of her offences. The 23-year-old has since completed her three-month jail sentence.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Randeep Singh Koonar said that the misappropriation occurred on at least 67 occasions.

Ms Ho’s profit was at least $16,500.

On the day of the pair’s arrest, on Jan 25, 2016, Ms Ho misappropriated 24 bottles of cough mixture from the clinic. She kept some of the bottles in her bag and the rest in her pocket.

She left the clinic at about 9.20pm and passed the bottles of cough mixture to Yap, who was seated on a bench outside.

Health Sciences Authority officers moved in and detained them.

The side effects of codeine, an opiate, include drowsiness, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, blurred vision and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Prolonged use may cause tolerance and dependence, and has been associated with drug abuse.

Yap’s lawyer, Ms Choo Yean Lin, said in mitigation that her client secured a three-month work contract as a customer service officer last month. She said he regrets his actions, and that he committed the offencesout of love and infatuation for Ms Ho, and merely wanted to lighten her financial burden.

District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan granted the application for Yap to defer his sentence until Dec 13.

Yap could have been jailed for up to 15 years and fined for abetting in criminal breach of trust. Under the Poisons Act, he could have been fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to two years.

Talk about being a silly bugger. There are ways to make money. Get a proper job for instance. Getting money this illegal way will have ramifications on society. So these two idiots deserve the punishment they got. Let us hope that they learn their lesson, and learn it well

991 grams of heroin, enough to feed 470 abusers for a month, seized

21/07/2018 Leave a comment

I hate all kinds of drugs, and drug pushers. If I had my way, I would personally hang all those who push drugs like heroin and the like. That is why when I read this article in the Straits Times, I was glad that these bastards were caught:

SINGAPORE – Four suspected drug offenders were arrested and more than $78,000 worth of heroin and Ice (methamphetamine) were seized in a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) operation on Monday (June 25).

Officers conducted three raids as part of the operation, during which they uncovered 991g of heroin, about 90g of Ice and a bottle of methadone, CNB said on Tuesday.

All four people arrested are Singaporeans.

During the operation on Monday night, CNB conducted an observation on two suspected drug traffickers near Circuit Road. Officers arrested the two men, aged 38 and 44, when their vehicle came to a stop at the junction of the Pan-Island Expressway leading into Paya Lebar Road.

Officers recovered 938g of heroin from their vehicle, CNB said.

CNB then conducted a follow-up raid at the Circuit Road hideout of the 38-year-old man. Officers found about 48g of heroin, 90g of Ice and a bottle containing methadone in the unit.

Two other suspected drug offenders, a 36-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, were arrested in the unit.

A further follow-up raid on the 38-year-old man’s second hideout near Balam Road was conducted in the wee hours of Tuesday. Officers found about 5g of heroin and a small amount of Ice in the unit.

CNB said that 991g of heroin is enough to feed the addiction of about 470 abusers for a week.

Investigation into the drug activities of all suspects are ongoing.

The Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine (or pure heroin) trafficked exceeds 15g.

I lost a cousin to drugs. I think of him often and know that he would have been still alive if he had said no. I have never taken drugs in my life and I have no reason to. These people that were caught are going to get the death penalty and deservedly so.

Thanks to PPAC Central for the pic above.

Convicted pimp sentenced to 340 years in prison

24/04/2018 1 comment

I saw this article on K5news.com and I thought that it was an interesting piece of new to feature here. According to the news article, Kitsap Superior Court Judge Jeanette Dalton sentenced Jeremy Blaine Fenney to over 340 years in prison Monday after a jury convicted him last month of 44 separate charges, most involving the torture and abuse of a woman who worked as a prostitute for him.

Normally, one gets life imprisonment where they jail you for most of your life and you are only allowed to leave as an old man. By that time you get institutionalised (remember Brooks in The Shawshank Redemption?) and you think you will not be able to make it outside in the free, real world when you get released. Well, this fella is never gonna see freedom ever, with 340 years tagged on him. Just stop and think of that for a moment. The fella is gonna die in prison. Check out the link above and read the story. This fella was hardcore!

Singapore High Court cuts jail terms for City Harvest Church leaders

This image has been going around via WhatsApp and I really do not know who to credit it with. All I can say that it is bloody brilliant. What is it about actually? Well, the Singapore High Court reduced the State Court’s sentence of City Harvest Church’s founder and pastor, Kong Hee, to 3 years and 6 months, from eight years previously. The sentences of 5 other CHC leaders were also reduced. Today’s hearing was the culmination of a five-day appeal heard last September by a panel presided by three judges, namely Judge of Appeal Chao Hick Tin and Justices Woo Bih Li and Chan Seng Onn.

All I can say is, you reap what you sow.

Daniel Cheo gets two weeks jail

01/07/2016 Leave a comment

Remember this fella on the left Daniel Cheo? Apparently, he was sentenced to two weeks jail for road hooliganism according to The Straits Times. The article below, courtesy of The Straits Times:

SINGAPORE – A church pastor who challenged a businessman to a fight, then slammed a van door on him in a road rage incident, was sentenced to two weeks’ jail yesterday.

Daniel Cheo Guan Beng, 46, a pastor with Impact Life Church, was ordered to pay compensation of medical fees totalling $48.75 to his 60-year-old victim Tay Kim Beng.

After a six-day trial, he was found guilty of causing hurt to Mr Tay on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) near Paya Lebar flyover on Jan 13 last year.

Mr Tay had testified that Cheo, who was driving a black Alfa Romeo, had signalled for him to stop his Renault Kangoo.

After they had pulled over, Cheo walked aggressively towards him, pointed his finger at his nose, and called him derogatory names like “chao ah kua” and “chao ah beng”. Cheo then challenged Mr Tay to hit him.

When Mr Tay tried to get back in the driver’s seat, Cheo closed the door on him, then grabbed his hand and pulled him out. Cheo again challenged him to a fight.

Mr Tay had said that he had earlier been driving behind Cheo, who was slowing down and accelerating intermittently.

When he saw the car’s front seat passenger taking photographs of his van, he also told his employee to do the same.

In his 39-page judgment, District Judge Shawn Ho said both parties were like “chalk and cheese” – the pastor being “polished and glib” and Mr Tay “sincere, straightforward and artless”.

He accepted Mr Tay’s account and said his testimony was “credible and cogent”. He rejected Cheo’s defence that the victim had falsely implicated him.

The judge said Cheo was “fierce and aggressive” towards the victim, and repeatedly goaded him to throw the first punch.

Mr Tay had told Cheo that he was already 60 years old, a senior citizen, and that “fight is not allowed in Singapore”.

The judge said: “Frustrated that the victim did not rise to the bait and was in fact entering his van to leave the scene, the bellicose accused slammed the van door against the victim, and then directed the victim to the back of the van.”

He found that the prosecution had proven its case against Cheo beyond reasonable doubt.

Seeking a sentence of two to three weeks’ jail, Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Ee Kuan said it was well established in road rage cases that the sentencing principle of general deterrence applies.

“There is a pressing need to deter hooliganism on the road,” he said.

He argued that Cheo lacked remorse as he had not only accused the victim of making up the injury, but also lied to the doctor, the police and the court.

Cheo’s lawyer Adrian Wee urged the court to impose a high fine. He said the injuries caused, if at all, were “extremely minor”, and there was no clinical sign of any injury save for the victim reporting pain.

He said the defence’s case had always been that Cheo closed the door, but he did not intend to hurt Mr Tay.

Mr Wee said Cheo’s conviction would “effectively end his present career”, adding: “That is a price that he will have to pay.”

About 20 supporters turned up in court to support Cheo for the verdict yesterday.

Cheo, who could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined up to $5,000, was allowed to defer sentence until July 14 to attend to his affairs and those of the church.

He is out on $15,000 bail and his passport has been impounded.

Maybe he can learn a lesson from that and for all you people from Impact Life Church, treat this as a lesson learnt Your pastor sure made an impact in more ways than one
